Story

The story of “Kotha Janta” revolves around a pair named Sirish (Allu Sirish) and Suvarna (Regina Cassandra), who are selfish in nature brought from different regions. It happened like the both of them meet each other in their working area, where their selfishness helps them in their work. Sirish works asa Program Director and Suvarna as a Creative Director for a Telugu TV Channel, which is headed by Rao Ramesh. Posani Krishna Murali, one of the businessmen in the city plans to start a new channel and offers Sirish for a good package, with the condition that Sirish should join in his channel along with Suvarana, as the duo got popular with the show “Kotha Janta” in Rao Ramesh’s channel. Sirsh finally decides to bring Suvarna with him by making her believe that he is in love with her. But Sirish’s selfish acts results in the breakup of their relation. Knowing the fact Suvarna decides to make Sirish aware about the real essence of love and the main theme of the movie starts from here, which forms the story of “Kotha Janta”, how the love pair knows about their faults and how they changes to make their life happier.

Story

The movie starts with the voice over of comedian turned hero Sunil, introducing Lucky (Allu Arjun) and Ram (‘Kick’ Shyam), who were brothers and do their things by their own, where one follows rules and regulations and the other move by his own way.Ram (Shyam) is an ACP, who is sincere at his work with his honest nature and actress Shruthi Hassan plays the role of Spandana. Lucky falls in love with her in his first sight and tries to impress her. As like in every story an evil person will be there and here the evil person is Siva Reddy (Ravi Kishan), a politician who lists out his enemies who are against him and kills them. Lucky finds that his brother ACP Ram (Shyam) is in the list of that cruel politician and decides to teach him a lesson not to touch his family. Siva Reddy sketches to finish the entire family by torturing them and Lucky (Allu Arjun) decides to teach him a lesson in his way and as a part of this he uses Govardhan Reddy (Posani Krishna Murali) and Kill Bill Pandey (Brahmanandam). The story of “Race Gurram” revolves around the story of two brothers and how the younger brother risks and strives to save his family.

Story

Hero Arya introduces as James and Nayantara as Regina, who gets married to each other without any interest, with the force of their parents. Story

Prakash (Nani) is an old city sherwani model who is desperate to get rich. He likes a Muslim girl named Noor (Catherine Tresa), who lives in the neighbourhood. One day, Prakash comes across the

is the daughter of a rich and powerful minister (Charan Raj) and decides to get rich by befriending her. Meanwhile, Noor’s family is neck deep in financial

‘King’ Akkineni Nagarjuna’s ‘Bhai’ has released today across the world. The movie has Nagarjuna and Richa in lead roles and Veerabhadram has directed this mass entertainer. Nagarjuna and Reliance Entertainments have teamed up for this film and Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music. Let us see how Bhai is.

Story :

Bhai (Nagarjuna) is the most skilled and trusted enforcer of a Hong Kong based Don, named David (Ashish Vidyarthi). David is heavily dependant on Bhai for his day to day operations and this is resented by David’s sons, James (Sonu Sood) and Tony (Ajay).

David sends Bhai to Hyderabad, to finish off an undercover police officer who is disrupting the mafia operations in the city. Bhai begins hunting down the undercover officer and uncovers his identity. The cop is none other than Arjun (Prasanna) and Bhai decides to finish him off.

At the last moment, Bhai discovers a shocking truth about Arjun and his family. He must now protect Arjun from the clutches of David and his gang. What is that truth? What does Bhai do to save Arjun? Will he succeed in his mission?

That remains to be seen.

Plus Points :

• Nagarjuna is very handsome in this movie. As always, his dressing sense is impeccable. Richa Gangopadhyay looks good, but she has nothing to do. The film has been shot quite lavishly and the frame looks very rich.
• Hamsa Nandini has sizzled in her item song. Sonu Sood and Prasanna have done a good job.

Minus Points :

• The plot is quite stale and predictable. There is no emotional depth in the proceedings. The film could have used three themes strongly. 1. Father – son conflict 2. Brother – sister sentiment 3. Romantic track between Nagarjuna and Richa. Sadly, none of the above themes have been utilised effectively.
• A weak screenplay and poor writing never allow the film’s graph to take off. Comedy is quite bad and despite the presence of so many comedians, entertainment quotient is quite low. The much publicised ‘Bhai Bullets’ are actually quite bad. Except for one or two,most of them appear forced and artificial.
• The placement of songs is quite poor. Editing is atrocious and this is one of the biggest reasons for the bad viewing experience.
• A number of senior actors like Jayaprakash Reddy, Nagineedu, Brahmanandam, Ajay, Ashish Vidyardhi etc. are present in the film. But they have largely been marginalised.

Technical Aspects :

Sameer Reddy’s cinematography is a big asset for the movie. He has managed to capture the visuals quite beautifully. Like I said before, editing is downright atrocious. There is no smooth transition between frames and the flow is quite jerky.

Devi Sri Prasad’s music is decent but his background score is disappointing. Veerabhadram’s direction is not up to the mark. Entertainment is his trademark but that is missing in this movie.

Verdict :

‘Bhai’ came in with good expectations, riding on the back of a nice audio album from DSP. But the film fails to entertain. Poor screenplay, bad writing and terrible editing spoil the overall viewing experience. Bhai is a disappointment and it ends up as a damp squib.

Manchu Vishnu’s ‘Doosukeltha’ has hit the screens today. The movie has been directed by Veeru Potla and Vishnu has produced it on 24 Frames banner. The movie has Vishnu and Lavanya in lead roles. Let us check out the film and see how it is.

Story :

Chinna (Vishnu) is a very witty and resourceful person who knows how to get things done. As kids, Chinna and Piccheshwar (Vennela Kishore) have a tiff and Piccheshwar leaves the village in a huff. Piccheshwar’s outraged grandfather (Kota Srinivasa Rao) orders the execution of Chinna’s family, forcing them to flee as well.

As the years go by, Chinna grows into a tall and fearless young fellow. He applies for a job as a journalist and he is sent on an assignment by his boss Avatar (Posani). The assignment is to conduct a sting operation on Minister Dilleeswara Rao (Pankaj Tripathi). Chinna succeeds in capturing incriminating footage, but he is caught and thrashed by the minister’s goons.

Chinna is rescued by the beautiful and kind hearted Dr. Alekhya (Lavanya) and he is instantly smitten by her. He starts trying to woo her and succeeds in winning her attention. But fate has other ideas. Chinna discovers that Alekhya is his childhood friend Chinni.

Just like Chinna, Chinni also has issues with her village. Chinna discovers that minister Dilleeswara Rao is also connected to their village and to their past. He must now sort out things fast to save Chinni’s life.

What does he do? Why is Chinni’s life in danger? That forms the story of this film.

Plus Points :

• Vishnu has changed his body language for this movie. He has tried out a new hairstyle and he looks quite good in the film. He has tried out some good dance moves for the ‘Appudappudu’ song. Lavanya looks nice in the film, but she has lost too much weight.
• Brahmanandam has done a good job in this movie. His introduction scene is nice. Vennela Kishore does not have too much to do in this film, but he entertains with his expressions. Master Bharath is ok.
• Kota Srinivasa Rao and Pankaj Tripathi have performed well. Posani is hilarious as Avatar. The second half of the film has good comedy and the entertainment quotient is pretty high here. The song ‘Oh Alekhya’ has been shot quite well.

Minus Points :

• The first half of the movie could have been better. The pace of the film is a bit slow here. The romantic track between Vishnu and Lavanya is not too good and it lacks emotional depth. The romantic track between Lavanya and Samrat is quite pointless.
• Ali has been wasted. He should have been given some more screen time. A number of actors like Ahuthi Prasad, Hema, Sravan and Rao Ramesh have been given insignificant roles.
• The plot is very routine and predictable. Though the second half has decent comedy, it reminds us of films like ‘Dhee’, ‘Ready’ and ‘Kandireega’.

Technical Aspects :

Sarvesh Murari’s camera work is just about ok. Editing should have been better in the first half. Manisharma’s background music is a big asset for the film, but only two songs are good. The other songs act as speed breakers.

Veeru Potla’s direction is quite mediocre. His trademark punches and one liners are missing from this film.

Verdict :

‘Doosukeltha’ is a pretty routine commercial film. There is decent entertainment in the second half and family crowds will enjoy these sequences. However, a slow first half and mediocre songs bring down the overall experience a bit. The movie ends up being a one time watch.

Young Tiger NTR and Samantha have teamed up for the mass entertainer ‘Ramayya Vasthavayya’. The movie has hit the screens today across the world. Harish Shankar is the director of the film and Dil Raju is the producer.

Story :

Nandu (NTR) is a college student who lives a simple and happy life. He comes across Akarsha (Samantha) one day and instantly falls in love with her. He begins wooing her with his wit and antics. After a while, Akarsha also falls for him.

Nandu decides to accompany Akarsha to her hometown, for the wedding of her sister. At the wedding, the story takes an unexpected twist. A different side of Nandu comes out.

It is revealed that Akarsha’s father (Mukesh Rishi) and Nandu have a violent past. That past also involves Ammulu (Shruti Haasan) and an evil politician named Bikshapathi (Ravi Shankar). What is that past? Who is Nandu ? That is the story of Ramayya Vasthavayya.

Plus Points :

• This is NTR’s career best look. Harish Shankar has succeeded in showcasing NTR in a way that fans have been waiting to see since ages. NTR on horseback, with black shirt and shades..What more needs to be said? The film also has some of NTR’s best dance moves in recent times. NTR’s command over dialogue delivery is apparent once again.
• Samantha is cute and gorgeous as usual, but her role is largely limited to the first half. Her scenes with NTR have come out well. Shruti Haasan looks glamorous in her guest appearance. Rohini Hattangadi has done a neat job.
• The first half is a big asset for the film. Entertainment quotient is good here. The film progresses at a good pace in this half.
• Hero elevation scenes and NTR’s funny mannerisms will work big time with fans and movie lovers. All the songs in the film have been shot in a very pleasing manner.

Minus Points :

• The second half of the film is a let down. The story has scope for being a good emotional revenge drama, but the superficial screenplay in this part of the film never really allows the scenes to make a strong impact.
• The film becomes very predictable in the second half, with too much violence and multiple fights. The love story between NTR and Samantha could have been tied off in a better way. The entertainment and magic of the first half is missing here.
• Ravi Shankar’s characterisation is very clichéd. The revenge episode, where NTR hacks off the goons in the mandapam, could have been shot better.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography is good and the visuals have a rich feel. Thaman had done a good job with the background score. Dialogues are very good, especially the ones uttered by the hero.

Harish Shankar is a guy who understands what fans expect from their hero. He has showcased NTR brilliantly in the first half. He should have taken better care about the second half

Verdict :

‘Ramayya Vasthavayya’ is a stylish mass entertainer that showcases all of NTR’s abilities very well. The superb first half is a big asset. A predictable and below par second half is a slight let down. However, the film should work well at the Box Office and NTR’s fans will be a delighted lot.

Story :

Goutham Nanda (Pawan Kalyan) is the grandson of a very rich business magnate based in Milan, Raghuram Nanda (Boman Irani). Raghuram has everything in life, but he is not happy. At 78 years of age, all he wants is reconciliation with his estranged daughter Sunanda (Nadhiya). Despite repeated attempts, Sunanda refuses to meet her dad.

Goutham now heads to India to try and convince his Atthayya Sunanda to come back. Sunanda is a headstrong but kind lady and Goutham must do all that he can to convince her. He joins her household as a car driver and tries to win her affection.

Sunanda has two daughters, Sashi (Samantha) and Prameela (Praneetha). What does Goutham do? Whom does he end up with? Can he win the affection of his Atthayya? That forms the story of this ‘Atharintiki Daaredhi’.

Plus Points :

• Pawan Kalyan is simply outstanding in AD. He is stylish and he has good energy levels in this movie. But more than all that, Pawan Kalyan’s emotionally charged performance in the climax sequence is something that will have a very strong impact. Pawan carries the simple and linear story line on his shoulders and takes the film to another level.
• Samantha is very cute in the movie and she looks gorgeous as always. She has a limited role in the first half,but gets prominent placement in the second part. Her scenes with Pawan Kalyan are adorable.
• Praneetha looks good,especially in the Bapu Gari Bomma song. Nadhiya has given a classy performance. Boman Irani and Ali are neat. Raghubabu and M.S.Narayana are ok.
• Brahmanandam steals the show in the second half with the Ahalya drama episode. Comedy quotient in the movie is very good, especially in the second half. Trivikram’s dialogues work well.
• The interval sequence and climax episodes are really nice. Trivikram has succeeded in maintaining good tempo throughout the film. He has also presented Pawan Kalyan in a way that fans will love.

Minus Points :

• The VFX scenes are not up to the mark and they could have been avoided altogether, especially in the fight where the jeeps dive into the river.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography is a big asset for the film. Pravin Pudi’s editing is good. DSP’s music and background score are big assets for the film.

Trivikram needs to be applauded for handling Pawan Kalyan’s stardom in the right manner. He has penned some really nice dialogues and his direction is also good.

Verdict :

‘Atharintiki Daaredhi’ is a clean and hilarious family entertainer. You will see a new and energetic Pawan Kalyan in the movie. Samantha’s glamour, Trivikram’s humour and DSP’s music are all bonus points. Go watch the film this weekend with your family. It is worth it.

Manchu Manoj, who is known for trying out something new with every film, is testing his luck with the film ‘Potugadu’. The movie is a remake of the Kannada hit ‘Govindaya Namaha’ and Pawan Wadeyar is the director. The movie has four heroines and Achu has composed the music. Let us see if Manoj can entertain with ‘Potugadu’.

Story :

Govindu (Manoj) is a young fellow who decides to commit suicide. He goes to a lonely spot and decides to have one last drink. At about the same time, Venkata Rathnam (Posani Krishna Murali) also comes to the same spot to commit suicide. The two of them sit down for a chat to find out more about their respective life stories.

Govindu has four love stories to narrate. First up is his romantic track with Vaidehi (Simran Kaur), the daughter of a rich Brahmin guy. After a brief courtship, the love story fails because Vaidehi’s father is against the alliance. Govindu moves on in life and this is where the second love story begins. He falls in love with Mumtaz (Sakshi Choudhary) and romance blossoms between them. But Govindu throws away everything in a drunken stupor, where he makes some derogatory comments about Mumtaz.

Next up is a love story with a foreign lady named Stacy (Rachel). As expected, this story also fails. The last and final love story belongs to Govindu and Mary (Anupriya). For the first time in his life, Govindu experiences true love. He fully reforms himself and leads a normal life. But fate has other ideas. A shocking truth about Mary is revealed and Govindu is heartbroken.

This is what compels him to attempt suicide. Venkat Rathnam is moved by Govindu’s story. But this is not the end. The story comes full circle when something unexpected happens towards the closing stages.

What is that? Will Govindu find true love? That forms the story of ‘Potugadu’.

Plus Points :

• Manoj’s mannerisms and dialogue delivery will entertain viewers. He has imitated Mohan Babu’s diction in a few scenes. Manoj is known for coming up with good fight sequences and he has done a very good job in this movie as well.
• Posani Krishna Murali is a big asset for this movie. His expressions and reactions are hilarious. The comedy scenes between Manoj and Posani have come out well. Ali and Raghu Babu are ok. Sakshi Choudhary is very good looking and she has given a decent performance. Anupriya is ok.
• The first half is a big asset for the movie. The pace is excellent and the dialogues are witty. B and C center folks will enjoy the ‘double meanings’. All the songs have been shot very well. But ‘Devatha’ and ‘Pyar Mein Padipoya’ stand out for their brilliant music.
• The interval block and the twist in Anupriya’s love story are nice. The short run time is also an asset.

Minus Points :

• Simran does not know how to act. Her performance is very bad. Rachel irritates in the role of Stacy. Filmmakers should stop trying to create the effect of foreigners speaking in Telugu. The third love story involving Stacy has been handled in a very poor way. It is loud, cliched and badly written.
• Because all four love stories are very short, you never really get enough time to connect emotionally to the proceedings.
• After a brilliant first half, the pace of the film dips considerably in the second half. If not for Posani and the songs, the second half would have become quite tedious.
• The climax episodes are not up to the mark. While the twist is good, the way the story is wrapped up is a little superficial.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography is a big asset for this movie. Editing is pretty good. It is quite tough to seamlessly edit a film which is nothing more than the sum of four short stories. But the editor has managed to do a neat job. Achu’s music and background score are big assets for the film. Sreedhar Sipana’s dialogues have good entertainment value.

Pawan Wadeyar makes a decent impression as a director. He has promise.

Verdict :

‘Potugadu’ has a very entertaining and racy first half. But it is let down by a loud and cliched second half. You can safely watch the film once, for the crackling performances from Manoj and Posani as well as for some great songs.

Priya (Priya Bannerjee) is a Telugu girl who lives in San Francisco. Her father is a strict and conservative man and he imposes a lot of restrictions on Priya. Despite being unhappy with this, Priya never raises her voice and leads a life of compromise. But when her dad decides to get her married to a brash and headstrong guy called Ravi (Bharat Reddy), Priya is forced to take a desperate step.

She runs out off from home and decides to commit suicide. But she is rescued by a young fellow named Sunny (Adivi Sesh). Sunny is a jovial young fellow who is about to head back to Hyderabad after failing to make a mark in USA.

He convinces Priya to enjoy life and the two of them set out to explore the city of San Francisco, to chill out. Meanwhile, Priya’s parents and fiancee freak out and a search starts to trace the missing girl.

As the two of them go around the city, they start liking each other and romance blossoms. What will Priya do? Will she succeed in going against her father’s wishes? Will she marry Sunny? That forms the story of the film.

Plus Points :

• Priya Bannerjee makes a good impression. If she can work on her expressions a little, she will be a promising actress. Adivi Sesh looks smart in a few scenes. Shafi is ok.
• There are one or two good romantic moments in the film, where Priya Bannerjee’s bubbly energy livens up the proceedings. The city of San Francisco has been showcased quite beautifully in the film.

Minus Points :

• The pace of narration is very slow. This is especially evident in the second half, where things seem to drag on and on and on and… well, on. The editor should have trimmed off a number of scenes in the last 20 minutes. There is no freshness in the plot or in the treatment.
• Bad screenplay and some very poor performances make matters worse. The lady who has appeared as Priya’s mom in the film gets on your nerves with over the top histrionics. The guy who comes in as Priya’s Mavayya has no clue about what is going on around him.
• The guy who tries to imitate Mahesh Babu’s mannerisms and dialogues is downright irritating. Bharat Reddy has been wasted in a poorly written role.
• The film has a very amateurish feel. For romantic comedies to work, sizzling chemistry and witty writing are an absolute must. Sadly, both of them are missing in this movie. Entertainment quotient in the film is near zero.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography is pretty good for a film of this budget. As I said before, San Francisco has been showcased quite beautifully. Background score is decent, but at times it is out of sync with the dominant emotion of the scene. Editing is bad.

Adivi Sesh is a decent actor, but he fails to make an impression as a director. His handling of the film can only be called amateurish.

Verdict :

Kiss is a romantic comedy that is slow and stale. Bad performances and poor screenplay never let the film take off. Priya Bannerjee’s beauty and good Cinematography are the only positive aspects of this movie. Except for multiplex crowds who are desperate to watch a movie, this film might not find any takers.

We have been to a special screening that was held at Prasad Labs and we are bringing you the first exclusive review of the Telugu version. The movie has been directed by Apoorva Lakhia and Reliance Entertainments has produced it. Let us see how the movie is

Story :

ACP Vijay Khanna is an honest and aggressive cop. He is also a very angry young man. His upright nature is rewarded with a record number of transfers, but Vijay never changes his attitude. After an altercation with some ruling party members in Hyderabad ,he is transferred to Mumbai.

Vijay is tasked with the investigation of the violent murder of a deputy collector. He soon realises that a powerful oil mafia is behind the crime. An NRI named Mala (Priyanka Chopra) is the only witness and Vijay seeks her help. As the investigation deepens, Vijay realises that the very wealthy Rudra Pratap Teja (Prakash Raj) is the man behind the entire criminal operation.

As Vijay inches closer to the truth, Teja uses all his money and influence to get Vijay suspended. A defiant and angry Vijay vows to destroy Teja and his empire. What follows next is a revenge drama where Vijay takes the help of the mercurial Sher Khan (Sri Hari) and an honest crime reporter named Jay Dev (Tanikella Bharani) to bring Teja down.

Plus Points :

• Ram Charan has delivered yet another power packed performance. He looks good as a cop and he has fit into the character of ACP Vijay Khanna quite seamlessly. This movie will be a pretty good debut vehicle for Charan’s Bollywood career.
• Priyanka Chopra is ok. She looks pretty hot in the ‘Mumbai Ke Hero’ and ‘Pinky’ songs. Sri Hari is effective as Sher Khan. Tanikella Bharani has given a dignified performance as the courageous crime reporter.
• Prajash Raj is very cool as the mafia Don Teja. He is well supported by Mahie Gill, who appears as Mona. Their conversations are filled with ‘double meaning’ dialogues that might work with B and C center people.
• The pace of the film is good. The short run-time is an asset. Just like in James Bond films, a song plays out during the opening titles and this has been shot quite well.

Minus Points :

• When compared to the original ‘Zanjeer’, this movie fizzles out in terms of story and screenplay. The plot is quite superficial and predictable. The romantic episodes between Charan and Priyanka Chopra could have been a lot better.
• In the original film, the bond between Amitabh Bachchan and Pran is established quite brilliantly. That is not the case with this present day Zanjeer. The friendship between Charan and Sri Hari lacks emotional depth.
• The placement of songs is quite bad, especially the ‘Mumbai ke Hero’ song. This is not a Telugu movie and Charan’s traditional fans will miss the mass masala entertainment that is normally found in the star’s films. Comedy quotient is also quite low.

Technical Aspects :

Gururaj’s cinematography is just about ok. Editing is not up to the mark. Except for one or two sequences, re-recording is strictly average. A more capable music director would have really helped the film. Telugu dialogues are just about ok.

Apoorva Lakhia has succeeded in maintaining good pace throughout the film. But he should have infused more humour and entertainment into the proceedings. He scores passing marks as a director.

Verdict :

Do not compare this movie with the original classic(Amitabh’s Zanjeer). They are two very different movies. Charan has given a power packed performance and the film has its moments. A crisp runtime also helps matters. A better script and a higher dose of entertainment would have really helped matters. Still, the movie ends up as a decent cop drama.

Sushanth is testing his fortunes at the Box Office with the film ‘Adda’. The movie has been directed by G.Karthik Reddy and Shanvi is the heroine. Chintalapudi Srinivas and Akkineni Nagasuseela produced this film. The movie is crucial for Sushanth, as he has not had a big success in his career so far. Let us see if he has a chance with this 

movie.

Story :

Abhi (Sushanth) is a person who specializes in providing services for lovers as well as their parents. He has a special ability when it comes to creating rifts between lovers and his services are used by parents who are worried about the love lives of their kids. But when he wants to, he also helps lovers and gets them married. He charges a handsome fee for all this.

Priya (Shanvi) seeks the services of Abhi in order to disrupt her sister’s love life. She is worried about her father Patel (Nagineedu) and that is why she takes this step. Abhi helps Shanvi, but in the process, discovers that he has feelings for Priya.

But Priya is unable to reciprocate, as she feels Abhi is a guy without feelings and morals. She is also supposed to marry her bava (Dev Gill).

What happens in the end? Will Abhi succeed in winning Priya’s heart? That forms the story

Plus Points :

Sushant has improved a lot as an actor. He has good grace as a dancer. His costumes are quite stylish in the film. 

Shanvi looks very glamorous in the movie and she is a big asset for the film. Her costumes and skin show in songs will work in B and C centers.

Raghubabu entertains briefly. Jayaprakash Reddy makes a cameo appearance,but he manages to make people laugh with his typical slang and dialogue delivery. Dhanraj, Venu and Thagubothu Ramesh are ok.

There are some entertaining moments in the film,especially in the first 30 minutes or so after the interval. Some nice one liners will also work with youngsters and college students.

Some songs, like the one in the pub, have been shot well. A few songs have been shot in exotic foreign locales and they look quite grand on screen.

Shwetha Bharadwaj sizzles in her item number.

Minus Points :

The pre-climax episode and the climax sequences are irritating. They seem to go on and on forever. Because there is no depth in the plot, some of the scenes appear quite stale and cliched.

The director should have taken better care about the screenplay. The graph of the film keeps dipping at many places. The characterization of the hero should have been more comprehensive. The romantic track lacks chemistry.

Some good artists like Kota Srinivasa Rao, Tanikella Bharani and Nagineedu have been given very insignificant roles.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematographer Arun Kumar deserves special mention for his work. Visuals are rich and quite grand for a film of this budget. Anoop Rubens has come up with very good background music and his work is a big asset for the film. Editing is not up to the mark, especially in the second half.

Director Karthik Reddy has done a very ok job with this film. Better screenplay would have significantly helped the movie.

Verdict :

Compared to some of Sushant’s past films, ‘Adda’ is definitely a big improvement. The film has some nice moments but it is let down by a bad climax and slow pace towards the end. Overall, Adda ends up as an ok watch.

Director Teja has given some blockbuster hits in the past, but off late his films have not clicked at the box office. He is now back with his upcoming film ’1000 Abaddalu’. Starring Sai Ram Shankar and Ester in lead roles, the movie also has Naga Babu in an out and out comedy role. 1000 Abaddalu has released today in Andhra Pradesh

Story :

Satya(Sai Ram Shankar) is the owner of an advertising company. He happens to fall in love with Satya (Esther), who shares his name. But he comes to know that she is already engaged. Following his heart, he plans to woo her with the help of his friends. He cooks up a lot of lies and finally ends up marrying her.

Just when everything seems to be going fine, the wife realises that she has been duped with a lot of lies. The couple go through major problems and get separated.

Will Satya cook some more lies to bring his wife back ?Or will he win her heart with his true love. That forms the story.

Plus Points :

• Naga Babu is the biggest asset of the film. He plays the role of Tower Star, a lover boy who is madly in love with Esther. Though he does not have a major role, he manages to entertain whenever he appears on the screen. His comedy timing is awesome and Teja has exploited it to the best.
• Sai Ram Shankar has done a decent job. Comedy is good in places, especially in the second half. Some scenes, where Sai Ram Shankar woos the heroine with lies, have been executed nicely.

Minus Points :

• Except for some comedy bits, the rest of the film is quite stale and routine. The climax block seems very slow, with unnecessary scenes. Some of the scenes can be edited out, to reduce the run time.
• Logic is missing, especially in the second half. Two songs in the second half are badly placed and spoil the flow of the film. The family drama scenes do not appear natural.
• The heroine’s characterization is not up to the mark. Esther needs to work on her acting skills. She could not carry the role convincingly.

Technical Aspects :

Teja always manages to extract decent music from his music directors. Even in 1000 Abaddalu, the music is quite OK. Two songs in the first half are good. Camera work is nice, especially in all the song sequences.

Dialogues written for Naga Babu are hilarious. Teja’s direction is mediocre in this film.

Verdict :

Though Teja always says that he wants to make ‘different’ films, he ends up making routine flicks. 1000 Abaddalu can be watched only for Naga Babu. Otherwise, there is nothing much for the viewer in this film.

Andhala Rakshasi fame Naveen Chandra, Kishore and Pia Bajpayee have teamed up for this Naxalite drama named ‘Dhalam’. The film has been directed by RGV’s protege Jeevan Reddy and Sumanth Kumar Reddy is the producer. The movie has released today, in Andhra Pradesh. Let us check out the film now.

Story :

Sathru (Kishore) and Abhi (Naveen Chandra) are naxalites belonging to the Nagababu Dhalam. After a while, they become disillusioned with the whole concept and realise that they are fighting a futile battle. They decide to surrender to the police and they are given a light prison sentence of one month.

In prison, a top police officer recognises their strengths and recruits them for special operations that regular police personnel are legally prohibited from carrying out. In this way, Sathru and Abhi wield weapons once again.

A politician named JK (Nasser) also uses them for certain personal operations and this brings them into trouble. They also face the heat from encounter specialist Ladda (Abhimanyu Singh). Will Ladda wipe out Sathru and Abhi? Or will they strike against Ladda first? And how does a woman named Sruthi (Pia Bajpayee) fit into their gang? That forms the story of ‘Dhalam’.

Plus Points :

• Naveen Chandra has delivered a good performance in this movie. His character demands seriousness and Naveen has fit into the role well. Kishore has given a neat performance. Pia Bajpayee has a small but crucial role in the film and she has shown her mettle as an actress.
• Abhimanyu Singh and Harshavardhan are perfect for the roles of encounter specialist and jailer respectively. Nasser, Nagababu and Ajay are ok. Comedian Dhanraj entertains as AK 47 in the first half. Krishnudu also joins him in the fun as Bhadram.
• The film has good entertainment quotient in the first half, especially for about 20 minutes before the interval. The interval bang is good. Dialogues are a big asset for the film and they have good emotional depth.

Minus Points :

• When compared to the first half, the pace of the film drops considerably in the second half. After about 20 minutes post interval, we can start predicting the climax and that takes the fun out of the viewing experience.
• The climax of the film is slightly unconventional and may not be appreciated by Telugu viewers. The film’s treatment is geared towards A center viewers and people in B and C centers may not appreciate it. Sai Kumar’s character gets good elevation in the first half,but fizzles out in the second half.
• The film’s item song is not very good. In fact, none of the songs really help the film in any way.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography of the film is good. James Vasantha’s background score is a big asset for the film. Production values are good for a film of this budget. Dialogues are a big asset, like we said earlier.

Director Jeevan Reddy makes a good first impression as a director. He should have been more careful with the second half, but he has treated the first half well.

Verdict :

Dhalam has a very good first half. The film loses pace in the second half and becomes very predictable. If you like serious films with good dialogues, you can safely give this movie a chance. The film’s appeal might be limited to A centers only, so we will have to see how it fares at the Box Office.
