The Attacks of 26/11 Story:

The Attacks of 26/11 is the story of Terrorists attacks on Mumbai way back in 2008. The story begins with a Police commisioner (Nana Patekar) narrating the entire episode right from the terrorists entering India through waters to the hanging of captured terrorist Ajmal Kasab (Sanjeev Jaiswal) in Pune jail. The bloody killings at Leopold, CST, Cama Hospital and Taj Hotel were shown in the movie. RGV restricts the film to the night of the incident, recording episodes between 9 p.m. and 1 a.m., when Kasab was caught at Chowpatty. So, he did not touch the incidents at Nariman Point and Taj Hotel after Kasab was arrested.

How they performed?:

Nana Patekar literally lived in the role of Police commissioner. He aptly portrayed all the emotions of trauma he underwent on those ill fateful days. His dialogue delivery as usual is impeccable. There is no exaggeration in calling him one of the best artists in the country. Sanjeev Jaiswal, a theater artist who played Ajmal Kasab thoroughly matched the intensity of Nana. He will be hated by audience for the cruelty he portrayed on screen but that is what expected from him when he is playing a dreaded terrorist.

Saad Orhan is good as Ismail. Atul Kulkarni, Asif Basra, Ravi Kale and Ganesh Yadav appear in little cameo appearances.

Technical Performances:

After a string of flops, Ram Gopal Varma is back to winning ways. He delivered what is exactly expected of him. The subject he chose is very delicate and involves the sensibilities of millions of people but he handled it with precision. Even though the movie involves lot of blood and gore, he made sure the agony and trauma felt by the victims is portrayed well. And from the other angle, He had shown the exact mindset of a dreaded terrorist and his views about Jihad during the interrogation scene. The movie reaches its pinnacle then.

Cinematography by Harshraj Shroff and M. Ravichandran, Rerecording by Amar Mohile, Art work by Udai Prakash Singh and editing by Sunil M. Wadhwani, Ajit M. Nair complimented RGV’s work very well. They take you to the mood of the incident and immerse you there.

Final Say:

‘The Attacks of 26/11′ served the intended purpose of portraying the bloody history etched forever in the minds of Indians. This is the best output that can be produced when dealing with an incident which has so much of impact on people and their sentiments. Some people may find it as a feature film but since it is a happened event, audience will connect to it. On a whole, the movie is a fitting homage to all the people and security personnel who laid their lives on that night. A must watch movie!
